Huanghua port, a large coal hub in the Bohai-rim economic belt, beat its goal for coal handling in April, local media reported.

A total 17.68 million tonnes of coal was handled at the port last month, higher than the original target, Cangzhou Daily reported.

The port, adjoining Hebei and Shandong provinces, connects with multiple railways including Shuohuang, Hanhuang and Huangwan. It is also a sea port with the shortest distance to the top coal province of Shanxi.

Huanghua port, with 25 berths each with capacity of over 10,000 tonnes, has seen coal throughput exceed 100 million tonnes for three straight years.

Its designed annual handling capacity exceeds 500 million tonnes.
