Iron ore arrivals at Chinese ports fell 280,000 mt on week SMM 2020-08-26 09:53


A total of 89 vessels carrying 14.53 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during August 16-22, SMM estimates. This was down 280,000 mt from the prior week, but up 1.34 million mt from the same period last year.
 
SHANGHAI, Aug 25 (SMM) – A total of 89 vessels carrying 14.53 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during August 16-22, SMM estimates. This was down 280,000 mt from the prior week, but up 1.34 million mt from the same period last year.
 
The amount of arrivals in China’s top steelmaking city of Tangshan increased, while those in Shandong declined.
 
For the same week, iron ore deliveries leaving Australian ports expanded 1.47 million mt from the prior week to 17.79 million mt, rising 5.47 million mt from the same period last year.
 
Shipments that departed Brazilian ports were estimated to fall 550,000 mt from the prior week to 7.04 million mt.
