According to the plan, Chengdu Port is divided into Jinjiang Port Area, Tuojiang Port Area, and Sanchahu Port Area, forming an overall pattern with the "two rivers and one lake" port area as the main part and other ports as supplements.

The function of Chengdu Port is an important port in Sichuan Province and an important part of Chengdu's comprehensive transportation system.

There are a total of 168 terminals(560 berths) planned for Chengdu Port, including 51 in Jinjiang Port Area, 53 in Tuojiang Port Area (including 7 freight terminals), and 64 in other lake reservoir areas.

The total length of various coastlines is about 25,615 meters, of which 3,865 meters have been utilized, 16,666 meters are planned to be utilized, and 5084 meters are reserved.

By 2025, 146 berths will be built, with a passenger throughput of 1.9 million passengers, and an estimated investment of about 190 million yuan. By 2035, with the completion of the upgrading and transformation of Tuojiang and Minjiang navigation and power hubs, 560 berths will be built, 5.1 million tons of cargo throughput, estimated investment of about 350 million yuan.
