Shanghai port promotes non-contact operations to fight COVID-19 xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2020-12-08 15:13

In order to combat COVID-19, Shanghai has implemented "non-contact" operations throughout the port, strictly controlling port shore-based workers' access to living areas and other enclosed spaces of ships, so as to minimize contact opportunities for personnel.

Shanghai strictly implemented six prevention and control measures in port operations.

First, personnel control should be strengthened. Except for the approved crew members who are relieved from duty and the crew members who are treated for illness or injury, no other crew members of the ships sailing internationally are allowed to disembark.

The second is to implement "non-contact" operations throughout the port, strictly control port shore-based operations personnel from entering the ship's confined spaces such as ship living areas, and minimize personnel contact opportunities;

Third, strictly implement personal protection. Personnel working on board the ship and in the cold chain must implement personal protection strictly in accordance with the requirements before embarking on the ship or carrying out the cold chain operations;

Fourth, carry out regular nucleic acid testing in strict accordance with requirements. Carry out regular nucleic acid testing for high-risk personnel such as port reefer container unpacking and inspection operators and pilots;

The fifth is to strictly do environmental disinfection work. Carry out strict environmental disinfection in accordance with relevant guidelines for the inspection operation sites and living areas of reefer container unpacking;

Sixth, implement closed-loop management. Centralized closed-loop management has been implemented for personnel directly engaged in cold chain operations in ports such as refrigerator unpacking inspection.

Since the implementation of relevant measures, the situation of epidemic prevention and control at Shanghai port and the operation of the port have been "stable and under control on the whole".
