Tianjin Port builds world's first "zero-carbon terminal"! xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-08-02 08:57

Tianjin Port Group launched "Zero Carbon Terminal" at CPHA 2021 Green and Safe Port Conference (July 28), building the intelligent container terminal in Section C of Tianjin Port into the world's first AI "zero carbon terminal".

The move aims to fully implement the strategic targets of "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality", and accelerate the construction of a new pattern of green port development.

It is a major strategic decision of China to achieve "peak carbon dioxide emissions" by 2030 and "carbon neutrality" by 2060. It is also an active action of China to actively participate in global climate governance and cooperate in addressing climate change.
Tianjin Port, as an important part of the transportation industry, is not only an important source of energy consumption and carbon emissions, but also a key area to promote green development and achieve carbon neutrality, the port said.

The intelligent container terminal in Section C of Tianjin Port, which is the version 2.0 automated container terminal newly built by Tianjin Port Group, will be completed and put into operation by the end of this year.

The terminal is a breakthrough in advanced operation technology, combining traditional loading and unloading processes with automated operations, reducing energy consumption by 17%.

Tianjin Port Group stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, it will focus on the goals of "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality", highlighting the use of clean energy, low-carbon transportation and green energy protection, and will implement the world's first "zero-carbon terminal" as the starting point, actively build a zero-carbon port area and a zero-carbon port, and build Tianjin Port into a model port of "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality" in China's port industry.
