China's first coastal LNG ship bunkering station officially put into operation xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-11-22 16:42

On November 20, China's first coastal LNG ship bunkering station constructed and operated by CNOOC Gas & Power Group was officially put into operation at Macun Port Terminal in Chengmai County, Hainan Province.

The commissioning of this bunkering station has filled the gap in the domestic coastal LNG ship bunkering station, and played a leading role in promoting the application of LNG to marine ships in China.

Using LNG as a ship's power fuel has the advantages of green, low-carbon, low fuel cost, high propulsion efficiency, and superior performance.

According to estimates, compared to fuel oil, ships powered by LNG can reduce emissions of sulfur oxides, suspended particulates by 100%, and nitrogen oxides by 90% each year, while reducing fuel costs.

Wei Hua, Director of the Consulting and Evaluation Center of CNOOC Energy Economic Research Institute, said: "The promotion of LNG-powered ships can effectively reduce the emissions of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides from ships, and better protect the atmospheric environment of Hainan and the marine environment of the South China Sea. It has great potential for future development. The operation of the LNG bunkering station in Macun has laid a solid foundation for the future development of the industry."

The designed annual bunkering capacity of Macun LNG ship bunkering station is 25,000 tons. The maximum bunkering capacity is 54 cubic meters per hour, which is equivalent to that of diesel fuel.

The station started trial operation on March 15 this year, and has accumulated 12 safe bunkering for the two LNG-powered ships "HAI YANG SHI YOU 550" and "HAI YANG SHI YOU 551".
