In the first half of 2024, the global market saw a total of 206 new bulk carrier orders, amounting to 19.976 million deadweight tonnage (DWT), marking a 22.0% year-on-year decline. However, Capesize bulk carrier orders surged by an impressive 180%, reaching 41 vessels and 8.957 million DWT, matching the annual levels of 2022 and 2023.

Top Players in Capesize Orders:

Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. (EPS), Singapore: Leading with 10 vessels, 2.103 million DWT, accounting for 23.5%.
 
China Merchants Group: Following closely with a 23.4% share.
 
Winning International Group, Singapore: Securing a 21.8% share.

Current Global Bulk Carrier Orders:
Total: 98.262 million DWT, representing 9.6% of the global bulk carrier capacity.
 
Capesize Bulk Carriers: The lowest fleet ratio with 7.2%.
 
Panamax, Supramax, and Handymax: Holding higher fleet ratios of 12.3%, 11.1%, and 8.9% respectively.
