Amoysailing Clarifies No New Order for Ultramax Bulk Carriers xinde marine news Chen Yang 2024-10-11 10:41

Xiamen-based Amoysailing Maritime, recently reported to have placed an order for four ultramax bulk carriers, has clarified that the company does not currently have such a newbuilding project planned. The initial report, which cited brokers claiming the company had commissioned four 64,000 dwt newbuilds at Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering Equipment, appears to have been a misunderstanding.

Amoysailing confirmed to Xinde Marine News that no recent orders have been made, suggesting that the reports may have confused this with an earlier order placed at the same yard. Earlier this year, the company did indeed sign a contract for four ultramax bulkers with Jiangsu Haitong, but there have been no additional agreements since.

Amoysailing has been active in the market, with a busy year acquiring secondhand vessels. The company added four bulk carriers to its fleet, built between 2016 and 2019, boosting its operations. Nonetheless, no new orders have been confirmed beyond the initial four-ship contract signed earlier.
