1. On Jan 13, four rescuers from China Shanghai Salvage Bureau got on board of SANCHI, found two dead crewmen and the VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) and took them back to the rescue vessel “SHEN QIAN HAO”.


 
2. At about 12 o'clock on the 14th, the "SANCHI" wheel suddenly blasted and the bow was suspected of collapsing. The entire ship violently flamed and the flame reached about 800 to 1000 meters. At about 13:45, SANCHI was engulfed in thick smoke and then confirmed sank.
 
3. The second LNG ship of Queensland Curtis LNG Project was named “Pan Americas” yesterday. The naming ceremony was held on 12 Jan 2018 at HuDong CSSC Shipyard. The project is a JV between CLNG (Cosco Shipping Energy & China Merchants JV), Teekay, Shell and CNOOC.
 
4. On January 10, 2018, China Jiangnan Shipyard held a naming ceremony for the 84000m³ VLGC (Panda 84P) H2544 built for Naftomar and signed the contract for delivery on the 12th.
 
5. With the rebound of shipbuilding demand, global shipbuilding industry showed a clear recovery in 2017 after a serious depression in new shipbuilding orders in 2016. The global new shipbuilding orders presented an obvious increase which is nearly 200% higher than 2016. Among these orders, Chinese shipping companies still rank the first for winning new shipbuilding orders in the world.
