Shandong Shipping’s Aries Project Completes Delivery of 8 MR Tankers!

On March 31, the final vessel of Shandong Shipping’s Aries Project — the TROUVAILLE — was successfully named and delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou, marking the full completion of its 8-vessel, 50,000 DWT IMO II/III MR tanker series.

Jointly developed with CSSC GSI, GDB Leasing, and Hengyi Logistics, the Aries Project is a flagship example of deep collaboration across central SOEs, state-owned enterprises, and private firms, integrating shipbuilding, leasing, and international liquid cargo logistics.

Designed for the global market, the Aries tankers feature:

183m LOA, 32m beam, 13.29m draft

18 cargo tanks with ~50,000 m³ capacity

IMO Tier III compliance with advanced energy-saving and emission-control systems

All 8 vessels have joined China’s first chemical tanker pooling platform, co-founded with major global players, operating under a shared-capacity, shared-risk, and shared-reward model. The first 7 vessels have already generated nearly USD 9 million in profits.

With the TROUVAILLE now in service, the pool’s capacity and economic impact are set to grow further, driving Shandong Shipping’s transformation from a “single shipowner” to a comprehensive capacity integrator and management service provider.
